

Dr. Schär has its headquarters in Burgstall (Italy) and is the pioneer and undisputed European market leader in the area of gluten-free foods. What started more than 25 years ago as an initial range of dietary products for people with celiac disease, has since developed into an entire company group. In Europe today Dr. Schär sells a wide range of conventional and frozen gluten-free products under five brand names: Schär, DS, Glutafin, Glutano and Trufree. These products meet the highest quality control standards, are leaders in innovation, and they also taste great. The variety of products available ranges from fresh bread to snack foods, from muesli to pasta and flour, and from frozen pizzas to ice-cream.
Dr. Schär products are available worldwide from food retailers, specialty shops, health food shops and/or pharmacists, depending on the brand. In Italy, the Dr. Schär Group supplies 47% of all gluten-free products available on the market, and its market share in the rest of Europe averages between 35 and 40%.
Schar has expanded to the United States in 2007. Schar products are now available in mainstream grocery stores, health food stores, and online. We offer the same exceptional taste, quality and confidence of the Schar brand in our American line of products. The American line includes breads, crackers, pasta, cookies, mixes, and more.
In order to meet the challenge of supplying healthy foods which are tasty, safe, and of high quality for people with celiac disease, at a very early stage Dr. Schär invested heavily in research and established its own research and development department. Schar uses the scientific findings of the department's experts along with the results from our market research and our regular consultations with customers and consumers in the development of our products.
The needs of consumers is the most important source of motivation for Schar. Currently Schar has a Professionals team as well as 400 employees working at six sites worldwide. Three of these sites are production-orientated.
